AR Project Summary (at least 250 words):
At the beginning of the year, we conducted Multiple Intelligence surveys on the students in grades 1-5. For the 1st grade students we used pictures and icons. After their surveys were finished, we sat down and went through each survey to identify the student’s top 3 strengths/ intelligences. When we had each students top 3 listed, we let the students pick their favorite kind of club they wanted to attend, and they had to rank them 1-3, 1 being their 1st choice. Meanwhile, the teachers also took their own surveys, to see where their strengths were. The results of these surveys helped the teachers come up with their club that they were going to provide for the students. The teachers came up with clubs such as: photography club, running club, yoga club, t-shirt making club, music/drama club, gardening club, and cooking club are some examples. The admin team then sat down and came up with the schedule and days that we were going to have Eagle Clubs. Before the first day of clubs, each teacher turned in a supply requisite and letters were sent home to parents explaining the reason we were doing clubs, and the logistics of how they were going to take place. To accommodate all the students and their interests, we have one club that is being led by two parents, this is the craft making club. Some teachers are team teaching a couple of the clubs, especially the ones that had many students. We wanted to make sure there were good numbers in each club, and that there weren’t too many. Our students have had 3 club days, and they are really enjoying it. In the cooking club they have made salsa, hummus, and biscuits. In the sewing club they have started a project, and the photography club has already started taking their portraits. The logistics of club days has run very smoothly, and students have adjusted.
